Randall,

Is it possible for you to try and install the pre-built kernel just to rule 
out your problems.  I experienced the same errors with my ATI Radeon 9000 
chip when I upgraded from 2.6.5-2 to 2.6.5-3.  I then downgraded to 2.6.3 and 
saw that this bug was reported and a new 2.6.5-4 was added several days ago.  
I installed this kernel and haven't experienced any problems.  Again, all of 
my kernels are the pre-built ones.
