Hello,I've just compiled a custom kernel (installed new HD) and i have a
mystery with modprobe which tells me:

modprobe *
modprobe: Can't locate module vmlinuz.old

modprobe -l *
[no results]

in /lib/modules/[nameofkernel] i have nice looking modules...

hmm, have i just been staring at the machine too long... any clues for the
problem? what is going on?
