installing though, what the mess.Debian in its present form is very beginner unfriendly. That may change a bit with the new installer when it is ready.
That's a good news. In any case, I would like to see Debian-Newbie email list.
You can install Morphix what is a Debian distro easy to install ( you can see the wiki with a lot of information from/to beginners )However, Debian is not meant to be installed by beginners. And yourfriend should damn well know that.
