There's no particular reason why that should be true. While
ftp.pl.debian.org has 'ftp' in its hostname, it also runs an HTTP
server. The same goes for ftp.uk.debian.org, for example.
Adam, could you post /etc/apt/sources.list? It would be easier to
examine that way.
