Yes. This issue was fixed in the upstream 2.4.23 kernel, so compiling
your own kernel from the stable vanilla sources from kernel.org will be
adequate.

As previously said, I'd reccommend you use make-kpkg, too, so you can
create a Debian kernel package that can be managed by dpkg.
