hm, so i'm using the potato base2_2.tgz that's linked off the document
you mentioned right now, and though it mostly works, it appears to be
missing GLIBC_2.2.3, _2.2, and _2.3 -- all of which are required by
various apps (like passwd, dpkg ... you know, details :-P)
there must be a way to get a post-potato base debs, right? not as
such, maybe, but a simple base system that i can chroot into, and from
which i can configure an install ...
