netgear ma311 recognized but not working on testing
Please CC me on all replies, since I'm not currently subscribed to the

I just got a netgear ma311 wireless network card and, after compiling
a 2.4.20 kernel with the necessary hermes PCI/PCMCIA drivers (and just
about every other wireless driver I could find, for that matter), I
got my testing system to recognize it. However, I can't get it
to actually do anything useful (I'm using my 3com wired card to post
this). pump hangs whenever I run it with -i eth1 (where eth1 is the
wireless card). Is pump the way to configure it? I wouldn't think it
would be any different from configuring a wired network card (???).
I really have no clue what I'm doing, but there're a couple things
that I suspect might be the problem. First of all, after I bought it
and opened the box, I realized that it stated in several places that
it required a PIII and PCI 2.2 (I have a Dell PII 233 that I bought
back in late 1997). I'm not sure when PCI 2.2 came out, but if it's
fairly new, my machine might not support it.
The second thing is what it says when I run iwconfig (the part about
version 14 and v. 15 and things being broken):
# iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.
eth0 no wireless extensions.
Warning: Driver for device eth1 has been compiled with version 14
of Wireless Extension, while this program is using version 15.

I'm not sure what versions are being refered to there. Here's some
more info that might be helpful in troubleshooting:

Any ideas? Anything at all would probably be helpful.
