Re: Upgrading to KDE 3.1

Hello, I followed this conversation too, and added the apt-line to my
sources.list. I had troubles too, but i was using debian for testing to see
if I like it (and I doo) so I didn't care about a new installation of debian.

So I formatted my computer, did a new install. By tasksel I only selected
X-window system and NOT selected desktop environment.
		               ^^^

Then I added deb http://devel-home.kde.org/~nolden/kde stable main to
sources.list. Then I runned apt-get update. After that I did apt-get install
kdm and apt installs all necessary packages for KDE 3.1 an it works fine.

If you use kword, kspread and so on do apt-get install koffice, you have to
install all packages manually, I have bad experiences with dselect, this
wants to install kdelibs3, wich conflicts with KDE 3.1

I know it's a strange way to install KDE 3.1 but I tried several times to
install KDE 3.1 by the normal way but this didn't succeed.

Hope this helps,
HTH
