Where did you get the package from? According to http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=137997 the acroread package was removed from Debian.
But I can't find the nppdf.so file which is needed to use acroread as a mozilla plugin. ( I mean I looked over the whole system, but there is no such file).
