syslog-ng[3946]: STATS: dropped 0

I've got a system that has started to produce many messages in
the system logs that say "syslog-ng[3946]: STATS: dropped 0".
I've looked over the syslog-ng docs, but I've been unable to
figure out what these messages mean.
The list archives show that the same question has been asked but never
answered.
Can someone please explain what this means?
