To be fair, you should point out that this is an opinion that run's
contrary to how Debian's 2.4 kernels are packaged.
~$ uname -r
2.4.18-k7
~$ /sbin/lsmod | grep ^ext
ext2 30848 1 (autoclean)
ext3 57248 6 (autoclean)
The Debian kernels do provide for "maximum ease and reliability" IMHO :-)
