Better still use the debian packages nvidia-kernel-src, nvidia-glx-src and 
kernel-headers<whatever your binary is> and follow the instructions in the 
README.Debian.gz in /usr/share/doc/nvidia-kernel-src

Although this is not essential - I believe (but not tested) that xfree has an 
nvidia driver ("nv").  

Beware if you use the nvidia drivers via the debian packages because you will 
have to change the driver line in /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 to "nvidia" from "nv"
