I do use compuserve and freenet (depending on the time of the day) with
no such problems. I never set up static DNS, but pon handles resolv.conf
dynamically AFAICT in both cases.
And compuserve was quite cheap around daytime (at least when I
subscribed a year ago).
Just my 2 Euro-cent ;-)
