kernel panic

After defragmenting Windows 98, then rebooting my box,
choosing Linux as the OS to load, the following
messages appeared. (not the complete message)

[MS-DOS FS REL. 12 FAT
12,check=n,conv=b,uid=0,gid=0,umask=022,bmap]
[me=0x0,cs=38,#f=0,fl=0,ds=0,de=0,data=0,se=0,ts=0,ls=19456,rc=0,fc=4294967295]
Transaction block size = 512
Invalid session number or type of track
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:02

What should I do in order to boot my kernel again?

I have two partitions in my hard drive, hda1 belongs
to Windows, while hda2 to Linux.
