Re: OFFTOPIC cygwin and winxp

we did try cygwin on a winxp box at work - it would crash the whole
computer about 5 minutes after cygwin was launched. the crash would happen
even if cygwin was running, the main trigger seems to be whether cygwin
was launched.

searched for similar experiences on the net, couldn't find any. that
machine is pretty stable normally, especially for windows, doesn't crash
at all really. so we gave up on cygwin, atleast for that box.

the microsoft crash diagnostic thing sent the crash data to microsoft, but
i doubt they care much if cygwin crashes.

for myself, i run linux at work and at home. although there are plenty of
usability lessons to be learnt from windows, i generally find windows too
annoying to use for serious work. i feel more productive, in control and i
have more fun on linux.
