By configuration dialog I assume you mean the Preferences dialog brought
up by Ctl-P?  In the Preferences dialog under the Audio I/O Plugins tab
the AVI File plugin never shows up.  There is no way that I can see to
force Xmms to look at a specific plugin.

Incidentally, I do have the Win dlls under /usr/lib/win32.
