I believe so, but you might need to change the permissions later.

The major and minor numbers can be found in
/usr/share/doc/$KERNEL-doc/Documentation/devices.txt.gz. For
/dev/ttyS0,
the major number is 4, and the minor is 64.

Thanks Senecca,
that solves it, now I can boot graphically, but I find that my desktop
is bigger than my monitor. I can see only a part of window, I have to
scroll with mouse to see any window completely.

There are XF86Config files in /etc & /usr/lib/X11 also, so which one
the xdm takes I adont know I did play with few files but it was of no
use.
I also tried xvidtune, autodetect, it set the resoltion to highest,
now desktop fitted the screen, but fonts became microscopic.

So pls help me.
