Exactly. The name was choosen because of following reasons:

 - it should contain 2.4 to be recognised as kernel 2.4.x
 - it should be short
 - since this string is used as separator in the kernel-image name, some
   letters were needed to "detach" it. Kernel package name like
   kernel-image-2.4.17-2.4_2.4.17-2... is nothing but ugly.
