Xserver error - kde not starting

I get this error when starting xserver:

The XKEYBOARD  keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports:

>Error	Can't find file "UK" for symbols include
>	Exiting
>	Abandoning symbols file "defaults"

Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the x server
Could not init font path elements unix/:7100, removing from list!

Fatal server error:
caught signal 11. Server aborting

I am using TWM ok on this with no problems. This is for a pc which is 
going to be used by my wife. She's been using windows until now and I 
want to get kde running because she will be less likely to miss the ms 
os.
