errors with taper at restore

Hello folks,

i have a little problem with my tape backup system. I'm using taper to 
create the backup. If i backup, anything goes fine ... no errors. But if 
i want to restore, taper can identify the tape, but as it gets to 
seeking sector xxxxx, i get a message in the kernel log:

...and taper says "input/output error".

I tried to change the option can seek, but it doesn't work. I also 
reindexed the tape. This worked without any errors at all.

I also tried to change the "scsi2logical"-Parameter with mt-st, but this 
doesn't work either.


Have you got any suggestions??
