Dynamic DNS updates from dhcpd
I have a linux server which works as a NAT box and dhdcpd server for my
internal network. I have three desktops(WinXp, Win2k, Mandrake9.0b3) and 2 laptops(Win2k, WinXp)
connected to the internal network.
eth0 = connected to DSL router.
br0 = eth1(connected to 8 port switch) + wlan0 (working in host ap mode)
br0 is a bridge of wireless and wired networks.
I run dhcpd server over the br0 interface.
How do I configure the DNS and the DHCP server so that when the laptos &
desktops connect to the internal network, their host names are
automatically entered into the DNS?
I tried the instructions in the dhcpd man page about the DDNS update but
I could not get them working?
So right now I have the desktops configured with static IPs and the two
laptos get connected as DHCP clients. If I want to share files on the
laptop, I have to first find the IP address of that and then connect to
that IP address.
any help?
