PAM and WDM problem...

I have been playing around with the display managers
xdm and gdm... recently i tried wdm, when i reboot i
was presented w/the gui login screen...

but when i try to login any of my users ... i get an
Error..authentication failed... so i check the 
/var/log/authlog and found the following..


Aug 20 21:17:12 linux_debian PAM_unix[248]:
authentication failure; (uid=0) -> user for wdm
service
Aug 20 21:18:17 linux_debian PAM_unix[248]:
authentication failure; (uid=0) -> user for wdm
service
Aug 20 21:21:33 linux_debian PAM_unix[229]:
authentication failure; (uid=0) -> user for wdm
service
Aug 20 21:22:03 linux_debian PAM_unix[222]:
authentication failure; LOGIN(uid=0) -> root for login
service

Is ther a package that i need to install o perhaps a
file that i should edit???
