Weird lilo problem
I installed debian Woody on my desktop machine with the install cd's
default bf24 kernel (it is the kernel installed if you choose to install
a 2.4 kernel) and reiserfs, and installed lilo with graphical menu into
my boot record. Everything was ok, untill i changed the kernel to
2.4.18-686 (i used apt-get for that). What happened then was that when i
run lilo everything seems ok, but on the next boot it hangs.
Where i should see the boot menu i get a
lilo: L4L4L4L4L4L4L4L4L4L4L4L
and it loops the L4 thing untill i hit the reset button on my machine. I
normally get out of the situation by booting from cd and rescuing the
bf24 kernel and when i rerun lilo on that kernel it starts working, next
time i boot everything is normal.
I have compiled several kernels and none of them worked, i allways had
to do the rescue bf24 manouver. When compiling a kernel i have allways
included support for reiserfs and all different sorts of partitions.
Can anyone tell me where to look for a solution to the problem?
