I'm not sure if that's such a good idea.  I had a similar problem with
mine.  A noise, that sometimes went away with some wacking and
tilting.  But after a while, the screen started blurring and then
would green out.  Finally, it died.  I had to return it for
refurbishing, but now it's just always a little blurry.  The gun must
be a little off calibur...

But I think you are probably correct on checking resolution and
refresh.
