If you've created /tmp as its own partition, you can choose to use space on another partition instead, but not easily in addition to, your existing /tmp space. Go to single-user mode and unmount /tmp. Create /tmp as a symlink to space on another partition, e.g. /home/tmp . Go back to multi-user mode and go nuts. You might want to see if you can just have your particular application use a different location for temporary files, perhaps by setting a TMPDIR environment variable or by recompiling that app. > also what are the proper permissions for /tmp in debian?
