I've been very happing installing cupsys-client and socket and adding
the line:
ipp stream tcp nowait lp /usr/sbin/tcpd /usr/bin/socket your.cups.server ipp
to my /etc/inetd.conf file. Then adding any needed tcpd configuration
stuff.
