netgear fa311 ethernet nic and kernel 2.2.20-compact
i am trying to install the 2.2 kern over the internet. i have installed
the natsemi.o module. given that this machine is on a lan w/ a known
functioning dhcp server, the client i am installing linux does not
receive the dchp response from the server. i have checked the message
log on the client and i see that it is requesting dhcp information. i
look on the server log and it receives no such request. i can see
signifigant activity as indicated by the nic led and the hub port led
associated w/ the client. the activity seems to be excessive. i have
tried known good ports on the hub w/ similar result. i have manually
configured the client interface w/ similar results. i have configured
the bios for pnp os w/ similar results.
does anyone have suggestions?
