postfix: address mangling of outgoing mail...

Hello!

i don't get it....

i tryed to set up the postfix system using the canonical map, in the
main.cf i have:
canonical_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/canonical

and in that file i have a line:
localuser name.surname@a_ppp_provider.com

but this doesn't work.... the outgoing mail still holds the reference to
the local name....

since its a laptop that migrates across 4 ISP's i wanted to add 4 lines
for each case and simply uncomment the good address rewriting for the
given case, but somehow this doesn't work....

so any hint welcome
