'lookup of host "Primus" failed in smarthost router'

Hi, I have ironed out most Mutt problems but  I have been getting the 
message

"lookup of host "Primus" failed in smarthost router" ...

editing /etc/exim.conf and trying

'route_list = "* Primus bydns_a" or

'route_list = "* 203.134.64.66 byname"

and other variations does not  work.

Mozilla-mail has no such problems.

What am I missing here ?
