You have a difference between the backend name and the URL requested -
either change your add_backend to /debian/ instead of main, or change the
URL to <server>/main instead of <server>/debian.  

BTW, you may like to look at the supplied apt-proxy.conf in the latest
version in unstable - I have added detailed examples of how to use http
backends instead of rsync - http is faster than rsync and puts less load on
the backend servers.
