mantis/mysql: ERROR 1045: Access denied for... fixed :-)

I have fixed the problem.
Manually edited /var/cache/debconf/config.dat to change to password.
It happened to be copied twice.

When installing mantis, I get this error:

ERROR 1045: Access denied for user: 'debian-sys-maint@localhost' (Using
password: YES)

And the same when I try to remove mantis. Probably because I choose to
remove also the database.

Debian/stable 
mantis 0.17.1-2.1
mysql-server   3.23.49-8
Linux 2.4.18 on i486

What to do? I tried to grant enough rights to this user, but that does not
seem to help.
