Courier-imap & woody auth problems

Title: Courier-imap & woody auth problems

I just upgraded a server from potato to woody. I've been using courier-imap on it all along, with some users logging in with their system username/password (I believe using PAM) and other virtual accounts using the courier userdb.

After the upgrade, nobody can log in. I moved and rebuilt the userdb, to no avail, but what really confuses me is that the PAM-authenticated accounts aren't. I've got this line in /etc/courier/imapd:

AUTHMODULES="authuserdb authpam"

I must be missing something simple, but I've exhausted my own ideas. I had really been hoping that this would be a basically straightforward upgrade, but I guess not. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
