Having just left the IT industry to persue a career in law
enforcement, I'd say stick with being a firefighter. Public safety's
less stressful.
Failing that, your best bet in the IT industry is take a job as a tech
support slob. Yeah, it's shit work slaving over a telephone with the
stress level of a brain surgeon and the pay level of a video clerk,
but it gets your foot in the door.
