And I'd like to add a fourth.
4. Fixes the security issue without introducing new bugs, or major
feature changes.
Which Debian's implementation matches perfectly. Backporting patches to
maintain stability of software instead of forcing you to run the latest
version is a concept I'd like to see everywhere.
