Re: Installation over network

Hi

I did a network install of Woody after booting on floppyset. But it was difficult to find a list over ftp or http sources on the web. I ended up with downloading from default us-server. (Later i find it easy to set up apt with national archives.)

Would like if a list was easier to find on debian.org websites. (Link to a list from the mainpage ?) That would make it much easier for newbies (and skilled ?) users to start the networkinstall.

I agree, but installing the base from the us-server is probably not that bad, as you don't have to download so much. During the installation of the rest you are presented with a really good list of mirrors. Newbies don't know the ftp.[country code].debian.org idea, so this would be a good thing to include in the install. But that should go to the debian-boot list. You might express your wish to the maintainers of "debian-installer" (the successor of the current debian-boot system).
