XMMS segfaults on startup with Gdk-Error

hi,

i haven't used xmms on my laptop for quite a while but it used to work 
without problems a few weeks ago. now if i try to start xmms it crashes 
immediately. there have been some apt-get upgrades since the last time 
it worked properly, but i have no idea what change is causing the 
problem i have right now. my system is running with woody/testing on i386.
