I've had excellent results with the Asus A7V333, which has a firewire option. Just make sure you use a recent 2.4 kernel with it as the IDE controller is ATA133. Avoid the Abit AT7; a co-worker has one that crashes daily under Linux, and lacks PS/2, serial, and parallel ports anyway.

An alternative would be to not worry about FireWire and get something REALLY nice, as PCI FireWire cards are common and cheap.
