Voice software

Hello
An acquaintance, also a Debian user, has developed symptoms of RSI and
is looking for voice software to cut his keyboard use.
About the only package that he or I have heard of is IBM's ViaVoice.
Neither of us has used it.
I would be grateful for any opinions about ViaVoice or any other
voice software which members of the list have used.
Thanks,
Sam
