Hello, I have an offline Woody system with debootstrap 0.1.17 installed. I downloaded http://http.us.debian.org/debian/dists/woody/\ main/disks-i386/base-images-current/basedebs.tar and copied it to this system. This basedebs.tar has a timestamp of 08-Jun-2002 22:45. When I try to use it with debootstrap, I get the following: -- bash-2.05a# debootstrap --arch 386 --verbose --unpack-tarball\ /installer/basedebs.tar woody /tmp/test I: Validating /tmp/test/var/lib/apt/lists/debootstrap.invalid_dists_woody_Release E: Invalid Release file, no entry for main/binary-386/Packages -- Indeed, untarring the tarball shows that the entry is missing from invalid_dists_woody_Release. I still don't understand how to handle release files, so here's the question: Is there a different basedebs file that I should get for my version of debootstrap? Or is there a way to make debootstrap not care about checksums (always a great idea, I'm sure)? Failing that, how can I fix the Release file? Any input would be appreciated. TIA --j
