I send you message (Off-list) because your question was so incomplete to
be answered. You need to isolate problem into smaller set of issues.

You are setting up CVS server for use with wincvs client. So identify
problem is server side or client side. Along this line, ...

1) I suggest you to login to linux under acount "lhanack".

1.1) If you can not login, you did not set up account "lhanack". Just
read "man adduser" and fix it.

1.2) If you can log-in to the acount "lhanack", then try using CVS
server from that account. You should try loginto "lhanack" by using
both local console and SSH into that account from other account. If you do not know, read "info cvs" and
deal with it(***See below for more help).

1.2.1) If recorded author is "lhanack" in any case, problem is
wincvs. Go read manual or so for that and fix it.

1.2.2) If recorded author is "lhanack" for local case but not
"lhanack" for SSH, it is SSH CVS server issue. Check environment
value by "echo $USER" in shell accessed by SSH to be "lhanack". If
not you are in strange condition. I do not know...

1.2.3) If recorded author is "uid1002" in $CVSROOT/CVSROOT/histry or
use command like "cvs histry", you have issues with CVS server. I
would restart it and check again. I have no idea beyond this.

*** If you have no idea how to use CVS from linux console or if you are
looking for general help on CVS and WINCVS, I suggest followings:

1) "Debian Reference: Chapter 12 - CVS"
    http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/debian-reference/ch-cvs.en.html
2) Sourceforge site document page:
    http://sourceforge.net/docman/?group_id=1
Section "6. CVS Instructions" is good resources.
3) Read "info cvs", "man cvs"

Good luck.
