There's only 2 problems I have left to resolve before I'll be doing

Post the contents of /etc/gpm.conf and the input sections of
/etc/X11/XF86Config[-4].
As a general rule, if you want a mouse in the text console, you'll be
running gpm, and it needs to be configured first to work correctly. It
also needs to repeat the data as type "raw".
Then X will read the data repeated by gpm on the /dev/gpmdata device
rather than the /dev/mouse or /dev/psaux or whatever.
and I can't watch TV under
Linux. In XP, I was using a small application that could render full-screen
video from my Dazzle Hollywood DV Bridge. It works so well, I sold my TV 2
years ago and have been using my 19" monitor ever since. First with my
Voodoo3 card, then the DV Bridge when I got tired of the beta drivers locking
up the computer under Win2k.
I can't speak much to this. I finally got my ATI All-In-Wonder card
working using xawtv, but it took me a while, mostly because I didn't
know what I'm doing. I still don't. Sorry.
