hi folks, i have a problem connecting to a samba printer from a win2k machine. the windoze machine says "access denied, unable to connect" when i try to print to that printer, which is exported from samba as follows: ------ /etc/samba/smb.conf: [global] printing = bsd printcap name = /etc/printcap guest account = nobody invalid users = root security = user map to guest = Bad User [printer] comment = hplj6l @ 107b printable = yes path = /tmp ------ /etc/printcap: lp|ljet4;r=600x600;q=medium;c=default;p=a4;m=auto:\ :lp=/dev/lp0:\ :if=/etc/apsfilter/basedir/bin/apsfilter:\ :sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp:\ :lf=/var/spool/lpd/lp/log:\ :af=/var/spool/lpd/lp/acct:\ :mx#0:\ :sh: ------ samba's version is 2.2.3a-1 (woody). printing works fine from the machine as well as through lpd. even nobody has all rights to print. connecting to shares works perfectly fine. it doesn't matter if i am already connected to the samba server or not, i.e. whether i am known to the samba server as a user or anonymously. the password is correct. relevant debug output (level 5) of smbd can be found here: ftp://ftp.madduck.net/pub/temp/samba.log.gz (3k) thanks for any pointers. -- martin; (greetings from the heart of the sun.) \____ echo mailto: !#^."<*>"|tr "<*> mailto:" net@madduck micro$oft encrypts your windows nt password when stored on a windows ce device. but if you look carefully at their encryption algorithm, they simply xor the password with "susageP", Pegasus spelled backwards. Pegasus is the code name of windows ce. this is so pathetic it's staggering.
