USB printer question
Hello debian-user
Since some time, our USB printer connected to a Debian (sid) box (with
CUPS) started to behave strangely. Sometimes, without any visible reason,
it stops working. In the logs, following messages appear (in fact, there
are much more, but thet look similar):
Jul 1 13:13:35 zigzag kernel: usb-uhci.c: interrupt, status 2, frame# 144
Jul 1 13:13:35 zigzag kernel: printer.c: usblp0: error -84 reading printer
status
Jul 1 13:13:38 zigzag kernel: printer.c: usblp0: nonzero read/write bulk
status received: -84
Jul 1 13:13:38 zigzag kernel: printer.c: usblp0: nonzero read/write bulk
status received: -110
Jul 1 13:13:38 zigzag kernel: printer.c: usblp0: error -84 reading printer
status
Jul 1 13:13:38 zigzag last message repeated 6 times
Turning printer off and on helps.
What is broken ?
May a long USB cable (about 5 meters) be the problem ? (Formerly it
worked, anyway)
