I'm not sure what you mean with 'activated'. How can I determine it?

All I can say is that the kernel is of course compiled with unix98 pty and 
and /dev/pts support. I also tried to mount it with 'mount -t devpts' but 
that didn't make any change. I still get the same error messages.
