Thanks so much for helping me get this sorted out.
You were right, I just needed to change the via686a to via8322. After I ran
update-modules though, it unloaded all of my sound modules, so I had to re-run
modconf. I'll edit the /etc/modules file later so that it all works from boot
next time.
Now I can FINALLY get some work done at home (coding is so much easier while
listening to music).
