I believe that you want to use the 3c59x driver for this (odd name, but
the documentation for the drive explicitly mentions "3c905C Tornado" as
supported, at least in 2.4.18).
I use a 3c905b with this driver. No problems.

You can *probably* use their driver. It's nice that they are willing to
supply drivers. But note that Linus and co. will (allegedly) largely
ignore oops'es when a proprietory (=no source available) driver has been
loaded into the kernel.

I presume that Suse, Redhat etc all use the same kernel, so the
situation will be the same there. Please dont downgrade.
