what you have done to try to make X recognise the trackball.  If it
connects to the Serial port, I would think that things would be pretty
generic. you need to give some more info. Marshal

right... i have a two-button microsoft mouse that have been using, and i have always been able to use xf86config to configure it.. i tried that w/ the new mouse and load up X, but it doesn't react to mouse clicks or motions(no errors, pointer is there as always, but doesn't react)
