OK, now that I've finally understood what people have been
explaining over and over for the past two days...

Here's another suggestion:

In the muc groups' articles, why not set the "followup-to:"
header to be the mailing list e-mail address?

I don't think that can cause a loop, and it will allow people
to follow-up from newsreaders.
