OK. So why then does it refuse to work??
Does it make any difference if you give the lpr command as normal user or as root?
Do the files lpr and printcap exist and have the correct permissions? Example:
joachim@debian:~$ ls -l /usr/bin/lpr
-rwsr-sr-x 1 root lp 20604 19. Jan 2001 /usr/bin/lpr
joachim@debian:~$ ls -l /etc/printcap
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3133 2. Jan 00:20 /etc/printcap
Does it help to give the path explicitly: /usr/bin/lpr filename ?
