RE: opening x11 through telnet
Not sure what you trying to accomplish. If you want to export display do
this
on the box you trying to export display to: xhost remote_machine_name
on your remote box: export DISPLAY=your_local_box:0.0
assuming you are running a posix shell
for c shell: setenv DISPLAY your_local_box:0.0
if you are trying to run xfree86 from the remote box you will have to setup
xdm to connect to the remote box.
